Tocino, sinangag, itlog. If this is your breakfast, you will most probably have a great day ahead! Who can resist that sweet red pork, right? Although a really yummy treat, tocino presents a lot of chemicals that healthy eaters are turned off. But what if I tell you that you can eat tocino without subjecting yourself to the chemical preservatives in that marinade? Yes, you can!

In this Maputing Cooking episode, Chris Urbano will show you how to cook homemade tocino the healthy way! No nitrates, preservatives and other chemicals, just the freshest ingredients, but better flavor! By making your own homemade tocino, you get to control the taste and even select what meat to use. Yum!

It usually takes 3 days to cure and preserve the pork but once fried, you will get that caramelized, burnt ends of the pork with all that fat rendered, that we often pour over our rice before we dive in to its porky goodness.
