  1. ANAK

“Tortang Talong lang ang ulam?” Who would not remember this iconic scene from the movie “Anak”? Claudine Baretto’s character Karla checks their dining table only to find out that tortang talong is the only food for dinner, got frustrated, and mocked her mother. Only tortang talong haters would also react the same way, right? But If you love tortang talong, you can make it easily at home! Click the photo for the recipe.

2. KAILANGAN KITA

In this movie, Aga Mulach is a New Yorker chef who went to Bicol to meet his fiance’s family. There’s a scene where Aga made foreign dishes to impress the family and Claudine Baretto, his fiance’s sister, cooked the traditional Bicol Express. He was offered to eat it but he refused because he doesn’t like food with gata (coconut cream) which most Bicol dishes are known for. But when he tasted it, he immediately liked it. Who wouldn’t? Bicol dishes are the bomb!

3. STARTING OVER AGAIN

Do you remember this heartbreaking movie? Well there’s a scene where Toni Gonzaga was making sinigang for Piolo Pascual. Piolo described how this dish reminds him of Toni’s character- a mixture of flavors in one dish.

4. ENGLISH ONLY PLEASE

In this movie, Derek Ramsey plays a foreigner who’s looking for a Filipino language translator and hired Jennylyn Mercado for the position. There’s a scene where Jennylyn went to a barbecue grill place (ihawan) with Derek and let him taste the common Filipino street foods. If you have a dayuhan friend who loves adventure, you should try doing this with them too!

5. UNEXPECTEDLY YOURS

“Do you want some adobo?” This scene from the movie “Unexpectedly Yours”, Robin Padilla and Joshua Garcia offered adobo to Julia Baretto and Sharon Cuneta. This maybe not one of the highlights of this movie, but anything with adobo should most definitely a highlight in movies, right? Right.
